Our Story
The memory that started everything
The story of Lan Vera began with a bracelet.
When I was a child, my grandmother from Northern Vietnam offered me an adjustable gold bracelet β a traditional Vietnamese piece given to babies as a symbol of protection, love, and family transmission.
It was made to grow with me. As I grew, it adjusted. As time passed, it stayed β carrying the quiet presence of my family, my origins, and a heritage passed from one generation to the next.
This memory became the heart of Lan Vera: jewelry designed not only to be worn, but to protect, and carry meaning over time.
The founder β Lan Vera
I am Lan Vera. Lan is my Vietnamese given name β given at birth, carried across oceans. Vera is my family name, Latin in origin, meaning "truth". This house bears my full name, because every piece I create carries a part of me.
Between Paris and Ho Chi Minh City
Designed in Paris
I design in Paris. Every silhouette, every proportion, every reference to Vietnamese motifs is born here β at the crossroads of two aesthetics, two cultures, two ways of thinking about beauty.
Crafted in Vietnam
I have pieces crafted in Ho Chi Minh City, with artisans whose expertise has been built over generations. This is not outsourcing β it is a collaboration. A dialogue between two cities, two cultures, two ways of thinking about beauty.
Every Lan Vera motif references a Vietnamese symbol: the lotus, the apricot blossom, the silk waves of the Mekong. But I am not trying to reproduce β I am trying to translate. To bring these images to life in contemporary forms: wearable every day, timeless in their essence.
The choice of vermeil
I could have worked in solid gold. I could have stayed with ordinary gold plate. I chose vermeil because it embodies exactly what I want for Lan Vera: preciousness without excess, durability without compromise, accessibility without sacrificing quality.
Why 925 silver?
925 sterling silver is the reference noble metal for non-solid jewelry. Nickel-free certified, biocompatible, solid, and the ideal base for a lasting plating.
Why 18k gold?
18k gold at 5 microns is not a compromise β it is a deliberate choice. Purer than 14k, more accessible than solid. The legal vermeil standard is 2.5 microns. Our pieces carry double that.
925 sterling silver. 18k gold. 5 microns thick. These are my standards β and they do not change.
What each piece carries
I believe jewelry is not an accessory. It is an object of memory. We give it at moments that matter. We keep it because it represents someone or something. We pass it to a daughter, or to a friend who understands.
That is Lan Vera. Jewelry that exists to last β and to mean something.
